SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Giving Tuesday\nNovember 28th \nGive back to our Parish this Giving Tuesday.  \nIn 2022\, we celebrated our 100th anniversary as a parish\, and as a part of that celebration\, we began to restore our beautiful stain glass windows\, which were in urgent need of restoration. As the project continues\, the company performing the restoration found that the stone work surrounding the rose window facing Clifton Boulevard was falling apart. In order to complete the project on the windows we need to replace the stonework. \nOnce this stone is replaced\, we will be able to continue restoring the windows\, and complete the window restoration project as planned. \nThis Giving Tuesday\, we are asking for your support to complete the work we started on our centennial. All donations will go to offset these unexpected and important repairs to the church building. Thank you so much for your support in keeping the church beautiful! \nDonate to St. Luke\n  \nTake a look at some of these images: \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Prayer for Peace in the Holy Land
DESCRIPTION:At his Wednesday General Audience last week (October 18)\, Pope Francis issued an appeal for prayer and fasting on behalf of peace in the Holy Land.\n\nPlease join the Holy Father in prayer on Friday\, October 27\, at Noon local time.\n\nSome examples of how we can respond to the appeal of Pope Francis are as follows:\n\nPray the Rosary\, the Divine Mercy Chaplet\, or some other devotional prayer for peace.\nPray and reflect upon the Peace Prayer attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi.\nEngage in fasting from food (e.g.\, skip one meal or have two small meals and a third that does not exceed the sum of the first two).\nFast from some activity that you normally enjoy (e.g.\, watching television\, surfing the internet\, etc.) and instead spend that time in prayer\, reading Scripture\, etc.\nSeek to be reconciled with someone in your life with whom you need to make peace.\nCelebrate the Sacrament of Penance as a way of promoting peace in your own life.\nConsider giving some financial support to a humanitarian aid organization assisting those in war torn countries (e.g.\, Catholic Relief Services\, etc.)\n\nWe can also pray Pope Francis’ prayer for peace:\n\nLord God of peace\, hear our prayer!\n\nWe have tried so many times and over so many years to resolve our conflicts by our own powers and by the force of our arms.\n\nHow many moments of hostility and darkness have we experienced; how much blood has been shed; how many lives have been shattered; how many hopes have been buried… But our efforts have been in vain.\n\nNow\, Lord\, come to our aid! Grant us peace\, teach us peace; guide our steps in the way of peace.\n\nOpen our eyes and our hearts\, and give us the courage to say: “Never\nagain war!”; “With war everything is lost”. Instill in our hearts the\ncourage to take concrete steps to achieve peace.\n\nLord\, God of Abraham\, God of the Prophets\, God of Love\, you created us and you call us to live as brothers and sisters. Give us the strength daily to be instruments of peace; enable us to see everyone who crosses our path as our brother or sister.\n\nMake us sensitive to the plea of our citizens who entreat us to turn our weapons of war into implements of peace\, our trepidation into confident trust\, and our quarreling into forgiveness.\n\nKeep alive within us the flame of hope\, so that with patience and perseverance we may opt for dialogue and reconciliation.\n\nIn this way may peace triumph at last\, and may the words “division”\, “hatred” and “war” be banished from the heart of every man and woman.\n\nLord\, defuse the violence of our tongues and our hands. Renew our hearts and minds\, so that the word which always brings us together will be “brother”\, and our way of life will always be that of: Shalom\, Peace\, Salaam! Amen.

SUMMARY:Mission Trip Information Meeting
DESCRIPTION:El Salvador Mission Trip Information Meeting\nAugust 21st | 6:30 pm | McBride Hall \nWe invite you to attend the mission trip information meeting on August 21st to learn more about our planned St. Luke Mission Trip! This meeting is for anyone who is interested in the trip or just curious to learn more about El Salvador. \nThis mission trip will build our connection with the people of El Salvador. Our parishioners will be able to connect with the wonderful people in Chiltiupan\, where so many Clevelanders have found a deep connection for many decades. \nWe have a stained-glass window shrine that commemorates St. Oscar Romero and the four churchwomen martyred in 1980\, and those martyrs include our very own Jean Donovan\, a St. Luke parishioner. \nThis mission trip will take place February 7-11\, 2024.
