Basic Catholic Resources

Catechism of the Catholic Church – An online copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It provides both paragraph numbers and outline format of the catechism.

Bible Gateway is an online website which provides various translations of the sacred book. As Catholics we tend to follow the following translations: New American Bible (Used during Sunday Mass), Revised Standard Version – Catholic Edition (RSV-CE), New Jerusalem Bible.

Liturgy of the Hours (Universalis) – Universalis provides and online resource to the Liturgy of the Hours according to the Ordinary Form. They also offer booklets for public worship.

Basic Catholic Prayers Document – This document is a link to basic Catholic prayers.

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops – The bishop’s conference for the United States of American (USCCB). Has daily Mass readings readily available on homepage.

Diocese of Cleveland – Homepage for the Diocese of Cleveland.

Vatican Website – Website of the Vatican City and the Holy See.

Catholic News Agency – Typically very moderate Catholic News outlet.

National Catholic Register – Typically moderately conservative Catholic news outlet and “Our Choice”

Catholic News Herald – Good on recent and upcoming Catholic stories.

Catholic News Service – Excellent Service, however, slower to break important news.

New Liturgical Movement – A Catholic blog dedicated to sacred liturgy and art.

Liturgical Arts Journal – A blog dedicated to Liturgical Arts, Architecture, Vestments, and goods.

Musica Sacra – An excellent resource for traditional Catholic music, chant, etc.

Sancta Missa – Information about the Tridentine Latin Mass (Pre-Vatican II). Also, provides good information about the spirituality behind the Latin Mass and other resources.

Some Rites of the Church – Information on the different liturgical rites and communities within the Church.

Adoremus Bulletin – A Journal on the Sacred Liturgy.

Sacrosanctum Concilium – Vatican II Document on the Liturgy.

Rosary for the Bishop – Pray for our Bishops who are our Spiritual Leaders in our diocese. Get Reminders to pray your rosary for the bishop.

Lectio Divina with Cardinal Collins – Lectio Divina is essentially a praying and meditating with the Sacred Scriptures. Cardinal Collins of Toronto, via video/live stream, does an excellent job with this. On this site you can find his current sessions on the scriptures, along with videos and links to past sessions.

Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola – Here you will find the Ignatian Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyla, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).
