We received some great news this week. The CDC is relaxing health requirements and Governor DeWine has indicated that he is lifting all health orders effective June 2nd. We are finally moving toward some normalcy. We also received news that the Bishops of Ohio are removing the dispensation from attending Mass beginning the weekend of June 5th. I look forward with great excitement to welcoming those back who have not yet returned.

In the meantime, we are still bound by the current health orders in the State of Ohio. This is despite what the CDC has said this week. It is possible that Governor DeWine will update the timing of lifting our health orders in light of the CDC guidance. Until that time, we are still required to wear masks indoors and to social distance. I am as ready as anyone to return to a degree of normalcy.

I am hoping that Bishop Malesic will provide us with some guidance over the next few weeks as to how we should proceed in preparation for the lifting of the health orders. It will take time for some people to feel comfortable sitting closer together and being in a room with others not wearing masks. One possible solution may be to keep a section of the church set aside for mask wearing and social distancing. Please pray for guidance for Bishop Malesic as he makes some difficult decisions in this area over the next few weeks.
