We begin Holy Week this weekend with Palm Sunday. The palms will be blessed in the back of church at the beginning of each Mass. Please remember to pick one up on the way out of Mass.
I cannot encourage you enough to take part in all the Holy Week liturgies, especially the Sacred Triduum.
The Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper (Holy Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. It commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and the ordained priesthood. It also calls us to follow the example of service that Jesus set for in the washing of the apostle’s feet.
Friday of the Passion of the Lord (Good Friday) is celebrated at 3:00 p.m. This is one of the most haunting and powerful liturgies we celebrate. It commemorates the suffering of Jesus and his death on the Cross.
We will celebrate the third part of the Triduum on Holy Saturday. The Easter Vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday. It is the highest and most important of all celebrations. In my opinion, it is also the most beautiful of all liturgical celebrations. It is the primary celebration of our baptism.
We will celebrate the Easter Sunday Masses at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12:00 noon.
May the peace of Christ be with you as we prepare to enter into the most holy of weeks!
