A Note from Fr. Kevin –

I leave this Monday (9/19) for a pilgrimage to see the Passion Play of Oberammergau. A total of thirty pilgrims will be joining me. As in the past, I was able to raise funds for our youth ministry program through leading a pilgrimage. I was not able to raise as much as I have on past trips because less people are travelling this time, yet I was still able to raise $5000.00.

The history of the Passion Play in Oberammergau began almost 400 years ago. The plague raged in many parts of Europe and did not stop at Oberammergau.

In order to put an end to the misery, the people of Oberammergau decided to take a vow. In 1633, they vowed to perform the suffering and death of Christ every ten years, provided that no one died of the plague. The village was heard and so the People of Oberammergau have kept their promise to this day. The 202 Passion Play had to be postponed for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Please pray for me and the pilgrims as we set out on this journey of faith. Be assured of my prayers for all of you as well.

Peace of Christ,

Fr. Kevin
