Project Updates

The stained glass restoration and preservation project is coming along.  You will see some scaffolding going up outside the main entrance to the church.  Early next week, Henninger’s will grind down any rust on the steel framing for the rose window.  They will then paint the steel framing before the restoration company begins placing the new stonework.  Once the stonework is in place, Henninger’s will return to put the stained glass back in the framing.  I am looking so forward to not staring at plywood when I am celebrating mass.

The final phase for the stained glass restoration and preservation project is the removal of the old protective plexiglass and the installation of new aluminum framing and the installation of vented glass.  Henninger’s is still waiting on the glass and may have to wait until the weather breaks to do the installation.

The other major project we are working on is the replacement of the windows in the rectory.  This is a project we have been planning since before the pandemic.  We have budgeted for this for some time.  I decided to delay the project until after we made it through the pandemic.  The current windows are poor quality vinyl replacement windows.  Most of the seals are broken on the windows and we are losing an incredible amount of heat through the windows in the winter and cold air in the summer.  I believe the project will pay for itself in the next ten years or so.  See a few pictures of the current windows below.

I am happy to discuss either of these projects if you have questions.

Peace of Christ,
Fr. Kevin
